This author has always been one of my favorites. As a matter of fact, I have read 6 out of 7 of her books at least twice because they were just that engaging to me. I even over looked and skimmed through that rachett reality nonsense in His Forbidden Bride. However, I will not channel "The Emporer's new clothes" in this situation because the endings in HFB and His To Own just made me want to curse. It felt like opening a beautifully wrapped gift only to find a rock inside because the author did create some memorable scenes in His To Own that was sexy and powerful. One was the bath scene. To me, there is nothing more touching and sexier than a brooding and powerful hero like Mason who lets his guard down and shows vulnerability. The other scene was when the heroine said that she could not let Razo sell her again. That was one of the more emotionally jarring scenes that I have read in a very long time. After all this, a rock drops. I want resolution and closure at the end of a good story and not an epilogue happening years later. I appreciate creativity and humor. But frankly, I was too ticked off with that ending to laugh.

This gets 5 stars for being His To Own but this is actually a Fairgood Family set of Mason, Colin and Dixon Fairgood. I want to give Mason's story 5 Stars but cant being myself to give Colin or Dixon 5.

His to Own is Mason and June's story. 5 STARS. Absolutely brilliant. Ive read it at least 3x already.

His For Keeps is Colin and Kyra's story. 2 STARS. I just couldn't get behind Colin's CRAZY. Only thing I liked about this one was the call backs to Beau and Josie (from His One and Only).

Lastly, His Forbidden Bride is Dixon and Anitra's story. 3.5 STARS. It had the potential to be great - it just seemed like it developed too fast with no character development. I just recognized Anitra as being Sola's best friend (from Her Russian Brute) and it was nice that Dixon and Mason are cousins as well - so the tie in with missing moments from His To Own were nice. Anitra's 2nd life was really annoying and unnecessary I thought. Dixon and Anitra's story could have been fine without it - or at least not as dramatic and extra as it was written. Come on TT!

Nevertheless - I love Theodora and despite some works being far superior to others, I will read all of them just the same!!! Theo hooked me with Nathan & Layla (The Owner of His Heart). It was the first one I read and I've been a TT fan every since!
Mrs. Taylor has become one of my favorite novelists. She knows how to bring a story together and set up the next one all the while incorporating past stories to keep us readers on the edge of our seats anticipating more never wanting the story to end. I enjoyed Mason and June's story of evolving their damaging backgrounds of being abused and broken to trusting and loving one another. My only issue is the ending I feel like it just ended and the epilogue wasn't what I expected however I love how she incorporated the writer in her into the story. Had the ending been a bit more played out for the reader I would have given her 5 stars instead I feel like I'm left incomplete. Not worried though because I'm sure the next book from her that I read will suffice and makeup for my slighted feelings!
The story of Mason and June started out with such promise. You wanted to know more about each character. There was chemistry between the characters. The story was a bit unrealistic at times, but still entertaining. They grew as a couple, worked together to overcome their problems, and you rooted for them.
The thing that TOTALLY killed this story was the ending. What a complete letdown. The ending was rushed and it wasn't even about Mason and June! After investing the time to read the story, having the author insert herself in the ending instead of giving the reader some dialogue between the main characters was thoroughly disappointing.
I bought his book on a whim. Not sure if it was the cover, or the description. Also didn't know it was a multi-cultural romance, but was pleasantly surprised - I'm a sucker for those. Mason Fairgood, a white supremacist gang-enforcer/gun-runner, purchases June, a black woman enslaved to a Mexican cartel-leader wanna-be. He doesn't understand his attraction to her - after all, he had been taught that black women aren't beautiful. But June captures his heart and attention unlike any other woman. And though she is afraid and uncertain of his intentions, the walls she's built up to protect herself slowly starts coming down as they begin to love and trust and heal.

I loved the story, loved the characters, loved the development. My only complaint and the reason for 3 stars is the ending. Mason...

...attempts to rescue June after she is kidnapped by her ex in the end. But then the chapter is cut short with June on the brink of death and we jump forward 2 or 3 years, where Ms. Taylor puts herself into the story and then proceeds to wrap it up with a big, red, loud bow that include not just one, but two reality-television show contracts. I had read other reviews that mentioned an unsatisfactory ending, and honestly, I enjoyed the story enough to not regret purchasing or reading it. I just really think Ms. Taylor cheapened the story with how she ended.

So, yeah, I recommend the story - go ahead, read it, fall in love with Mason and June - just skip the last chapter and create your own ending.
