Call Me Oklahoma! Miriam Glassman Books
I absolutely loved this middle grade novel. Funny and touching and so real, with great characters and full of truth. With so much attention given to extreme bullying in the press, this book instead touches on something we all face in school: that kid who makes us feel that we are somehow less than others. Anyone reading CALL ME OKLAHOMA! will instantly relate to how Paige Turner feels when that snooty girl keeps putting her down, and readers will shout "Yee-haw!" as Paige figures things out and gains the strength she needs to truly be herself and be happy. So well done. I highly recommend this novel for kids, for classrooms and libraries!

Call Me Oklahoma! Miriam Glassman Books Reviews
Paige Turner decides to reinvent herself for fourth grade as a more commanding person, who shall henceforth be known as "Oklahoma." Red clogs and a bandana round out her new identity. Does it help her battle the class bully, Viveca? Or stand up for herself with her brother, or even apologize to her loyal but angry best friend? Yes, although probably not in the way she thinks. This is wonderful younger, middle grade story about a girl who comes into her own with great humor and heart. Ideal for grades 2-4, with charming line illustrations by the author.
